Our History

  • In July 2006 while at the Georgia Nursing Home Association’s annual meeting in Amelia Island, John Neel, representing the Sanford Company participated in a group discussion regarding the dire need for dental services in long term care facilities.

  • Shortly thereafter Dr. Richard Liipfert, DMD met with John Neel to discuss the possibility of creating a dental plan that would provide much needed dental care, on site, at the living facility.

  • Dr. Liipfert was instrumental in researching, locating and testing the mobile dental equipment that allows our dentists to perform all covered services without transporting the resident off site.

  • After nearly three long years of effort, involving the coordination of various state programs, regulatory agencies, boards and associations, the Unified Dental Plan became the first and only licensed and approved dental program in the State of Georgia.

  • After an initial six month pilot program was completed in 2009 our dental program was made available to all of the residents of long term care facilities in the state of Georgia.

  • Our program has a track record of success across the state of Georgia incorporating nursing facilities from every corner of the state.

  • Our network of service providers is currently capable of tripling their support operations with the same care and service available today with the Unified Dental Plan.
